Established in 1871, the historic Brookfield General Store and Cafe is located next door to the iconic Brookfield Showgrounds.
Step through the doorway here and find yourself transported back to another time. The shelves here are full of surprises and it's worth taking the time to browse.
For a quick coffee, morning tea, breakfast, lunch or dinner at the end of the busy week, this spot has got it covered. Diners at the cafe can sit at the front of the store and watch the world go by or sit on the back verandah and enjoy the rural view across the showgrounds and the quaint Brookfield Hall.
The cafe offers up sweet treats, baked fresh daily and a menu that will satisfy the biggest appetite. Start the day with a Brooky brekky roll: aioli, spinach, fried egg, crispy bacon, the cafe's famous "Wanted" Bone Sucking BBQ sauce, served on a lightly toasted roll.
Lunchtime sees items like the Barnyard Grilled Chicken Burger (the bacon jam and onion jam is handmade by head chef, Sharlene) and the Slow Cooked Organic Beef Rib on the Bone being devoured by appreciative customers.
Friday and Saturday nights see the cafe staying open until late and serving wood-fired pizzas, beef and pork ribs (BYO drinks).
Need to know - Kids are catered for here, with their own menu items to choose from for both breakfast and lunch. And four-legged friends are welcome here, with water bowls supplied outside for thirsty pooches.
Nice to know - Take-away meals are available, as are take home pre-prepared meals.
