King Of The Wings is a brand that was established by husband and wife duo Dylan & Katrina Pires back in late 2013.

After numerous holidays over the past 10+ years to the USA and Canada to visit family, they grew a love for the wing culture and saw an opportunity back home where the craze had not taken off as yet. The pair had always dreamt of opening their own restaurant stemming from their joint passion for food and hospitality, but as their family grew to four children and the demand on time was constraining, the reality of the commitment required to own and operate a restaurant was not feasible.

Late 2013, Dylan & Katrina came across the newly established Food Truck scene in Brisbane. This option would create an opportunity to start a restaurant on wheels where they could work around the family and still enter the hospitality industry with their own business. This saw the launch of Australia’s first Chicken Wing Food Truck – KING OF THE WINGS. King Of The Wings was the 4th Food Truck on the Brisbane mobile food scene and thanks to their previous marketing background, Dylan & Katrina soon saw their Food Truck and business, making headlines across town, being voted Top 3 wings in Brisbane by the Courier Mail, voted Top 3 wings in Australia by Delicious Magazine and being invited to represent Australia in Buffalo, New York at the worlds biggest Buffalo Wing Festival – WINGFEST 2016.

Council and a few local businesses sponsored King Of The Wings to compete in the states and it turned out to be a great result for Australia as they scored 2nd place against some of America’s biggest restaurants and chains and made it onto 5 American TV networks with news features across the country. King Of The Wings have since initiated a Brisbane Food Truck Alliance which has seen 22 of Brisbane’s leading Food Trucks join together under Dylan & Katrina’s guidance to create events, increase street presence and to have a greater say in council policies. The team launched the heavily anticipated 2nd truck in 2016 with a unique design which was the first of its kind in Australia winning them best Food Truck (Brisbane) for the past 4 years (Eat/Drink Awards).

The first King of the Wings flagship restaurant & bar at 240 Stafford Rd, Stafford complete with a beer deck, Green Beacon on tap and an extensive menu on top of the award winning wings was finally launched November 2020! In the best National recognition yet for the brand, King of the Wings was awarded “Australian small business champion of the year” for casual dining in Sydney, September 2022!
