Ciao Italia South Perth was opened in August 1999 by a young Italian chef, Spartaco Rotella. His passion for cooking began in his humble family home in Rome, were he would watch his mamma prepare hearty Italian food for his family of height! From watching mamma, he progressed to being her assistant. He would taste the food and observe how all the flavours came together and how each ingredient changed the depth and taste of the dish. This passion and love for cooking let the young Spartaco to embark on his journey as a chef.
After working in several Italian restaurants, it was only a matter of time before his passion and drive led him to open up a restaurant of his own. Ciao Italia South Perth was his first venture. It started as an Italian take away with seating for 20 patrons. After a few years it doubled its size becoming a popular destination for locals and tourists and the reputation of its pastas and pizzas spread quickly. In 2019 Spartaco opened the first Ciao Italia Express in Myaree.
